Nilmi has 10+ years of practical experience in commercial business, marketing and consulting and is passionate about social impact. 

She is the Cofounder and Former CEO of Oolu, one of the fastest growing off-grid solar companies in West Africa. She built the team from 0 to 230 FTEs within 3 years, bringing in 7-figures in revenue. Her team went on to raise >$14M in funding. Her company was acquired by Ignite Power in April 2024.

Based in London, she has since launched multiple startups, namely, Nilmi Consulting. As an independent consultant, she has worked in 9 different sectors and has since acquired several core European and US-based clients. She speaks fluent English, French, Sinhalese, and basic Wolof.

She is a graduate of YCombinator, Silicon Valley's well-known business accelerator. She was rated by businessfinancing.uk amongst the top female founders in the world for her leadership in launching and building Oolu.

In her spare time, she is a professional muay thai figher and has fought for several of the top London-based promotions and owns her own combat sports brand!

Marisa brings over six years of expertise in marketing and operations, characterized by a curiosity-driven and people-centric approach. She is dedicated to advancing digital marketing and operations, with a passion for fostering connections and building vibrant communities.

Outside of her professional life, Marisa enjoys traveling to warm destinations for quick getaways and relaxing at home with her two children and German Shepherd.
